Start Date: November 2016

About The Show:
Storyline ANNE is a fresh, new exciting television series based on the famous and timeless classic children’s novel ANNE OF GREEN GABLES by Lucy Maud Montgomery. This is a period piece that will reflect accurately the time period it celebrates, but in no way is it old-fashioned television. Our ANNE is bold. This is also the story of a feminist (before feminism was a word) with a strong personality, a complex nature full of desire, insecurities, and aspirations. Anne is basically every conflicted young 13-year old on the planet – she’s identifiable and, we hope, vastly influential.
Comments In accordance with CBC's commitment to inclusion, it is a requirement that all submissions be reflective of our country's diversity; with a specific focus on cultural diversity.
ANNE – CHARACTER BREAKDOWN
(Series Regular) Gilbert Blythe - Male - 14 – 15 - Caucasian. Gilbert is handsome and confident, tall and fit. Gilbert is the most popular boy in school, everyone likes him with good reason. Is very charismatic in a genuine way. Gilbert is intelligent, congenial, funny, a good friend and a stand-up guy. Always the head of the class, Gilbert is the boy to beat. Optioned Lead Eps. 103-107
(Recurring Principal) Josie Pye - Female - 12 - 14 - Caucasian. A mean girl/frenemy type with a wry edge and a sharp tongue. Laser precision is needed here. Josie is mean, manipulative, clever, and great at tossing grenades and barbs without coming off too outwardly cruel. Her mind is constantly working. Puts her self-worth in popularity so is constantly defending her authority and is threatened by Anne’s independence though she won’t admit it. She's a leader. The other girls are in service of her formidable personality. She can say things sweetly, appearing to be innocent, but they land just where she needs them to. First appears in Eps. 103.
